The change in one sentence
Anthropic has brought Claude Cowork and chat closer together. That product move matters because it shortens the jump from asking for an answer to asking a system to carry out work. It does not remove the need to decide which work should remain a conversation and which work can safely become a delegated task.
Use a delegation test
Before turning a chat into a task, write down the desired output, the files or services it may touch, the cost of a wrong action, and the person who accepts the result. Drafting a comparison or organizing notes can often be delegated. Sending an external message, changing a record, or buying something needs a more explicit approval boundary.
What teams should measure
Track rework, reviewer time, reversals, and unanticipated tool calls—not just tasks completed. A system that completes more work while increasing the number of quiet corrections has not actually improved the workflow.
