Honesty about limitations is both ethically required and strategically rational.
Engage with governance frameworks proactively. The companies that have participated in standards development and regulatory design have produced better frameworks than those that have resisted engagement. The governance frameworks that will govern AI accountability are being developed now, and the organizations that shape them will find the results more workable than those that are governed by frameworks developed without their input.
Finally, take the philosophical frameworks seriously. The questions of moral responsibility for AI decisions are not merely academic — they are practically urgent, and the organizations that have thought through their moral accountability clearly will make better decisions about deployment, capability representation, and harm response than those operating on vague intuitions.
